Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends football scholarships for his family as well as service to his community. He was the eldest child of Lucious Selmon, and Jessie Selmon. Both brought him up on their property in Eufala. He was also one of three brothers who played for Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-America. The year 1973 was the first time Lee Roy and Lucious Jr. Dewey were the starting line-up for just one year. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's most effective lineman. Oklahoma had two National Championships over his three-year tenure as the starting linebacker. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was named a National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer times a week in college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. He began his career in 1988. worked as an Account Relations Officer at First Florida Bank in Tampa. The bank was also a partner of the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute as well as the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as being among 10 among America's best young men. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in the height department and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He led the 1975 team. In 1993 he joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He was named associate director of athletics by the College Football Hall of Fame recognized him in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma presented it.
